Leeds

Will and I went on an exploratory mission around Leeds to examine the use of space within the city centre and this is what we found:

Large spaces, both old and new, run down and refurbished and all un-used. The Original focus of our production was going to be a feel good take on the social niceties of Leeds, we went on a hunt to find local shops, local people, all parts of the community that are open for the public, and still hold traditional charm. Instead we were hit with an overwhelming amount of abandoned, un-used or misused spaces.

Buildings with amazing architecture, and buckets of charm such as the Grand Arcade and the Corn Exchange are barely in use. Whilst the city of Leeds plows money into monstrous new buildings/new refurbishments, which again go on to be misused. Masses of space with nothing to fill it from over priced rental rates.
With our countries current economical climate you would think that all this un-used space would be going for anything that brings money in.

Currently I am not sure if we will continue with our original feel good take, as this initial research has sent us down a new road which may be more exploitable.
