Do Not Watch Videos If Epileptic

This video would create panic if just one of the audience had photosensitive epilepsy, These videos were constructed with stopmotion animation, The Word "Epilepsy" was printed black on white and then again inverted, I then took photographs of the prints and put them into an image sequence using quicktime.

This video shows the word epilepsy flashing at 15 frames per second.


This video shows the word epilepsy flashing at 30 frames per second.

I would like to test the two animations on an epileptic person and see which effected them quicker, this is mainly out of morbid curiosity, but i also think documenting the experiment would help contextualise the animation under the title of panic.

Epilepsy Storyboard

Instead of conveying the feeling of panic, this would create the feeling of panic if only one of the members of the audience had photosensitive epilepsy.

Fish Storyboard
In order to do this in stopmotion i would have to use a real fish with a mechanical wire structure inside to puppet the movement, another possibility is to use a live fish and film it flopping around on the surface, then export certain frames, to create a new jumpy sequence. This would ensure realistic movement but i feel it would be too cruel to do it to the fish.

This would be incredibly hard to capture in stopmotion, and in fact most of the impact would come from the sound of the production.

I believe this to be the most effective idea, and also think its the funniest. I would try out the other ideas that fit with this sequence (namely the fruit sequences) but as it is a stop motion production they would take too long to produce so i plan on completing this one as best i can.

4 Tonal options sent to Floyd, designs 1 and 4 chosen. Also my favorite.
One colour, cheaper to print and more versatile for a logo, metallic effect given to design 1 after request from Floyd. Delivered and paid for.... job done.

Experimented typed text and black shape, Font: Gotham, type is too regimented, decision to use hand drawn type has been made. More fitting and friendly for audience.

Initial ideas for ALL STARS OF COMEDY

Design 1:
Sure mic head, 3d text, statue of liberty and Big Ben. "Stars" "A" the shape of a star.



Design 2:
Thick stroke type, cartoon blocky statue and big ben.


Design 3:
Realistic vector statue, shure mic head and big ben, vertical behind billboard like text. Gives the feeling of a city scape.


Design 4:
Cartoon stuck out statue and big ben, behind bubble thick stroke text.


Design 5:
Sure mic head with bold type, possibilities of being really glitzy.


Design 6:
Globe like sphere with cartoon statue and big ben bending out, opposite sides of the pond. flat or rounded type.

Cook & Colley Presents

This is my initial attempt at animating 3d text to make our Cook and Colley presents sequence. It is my first time at animating 3d text and i think it has worked very well, i look forward to employing this expression in the future and exploring the possibilities that it has opened up.

Cannibal Camera Pan Plan

A sequence of images showing the planned behavior of the camera movement above my overall composition. This plan also shows the image borders which will work as windows for each compositional image to animate behind.

Page Layout Plan

In order for the sequence to work the images must be the right size to fit into the camera composition of 16:9 pal widescreen but also fit naturally on a page layout asif they were printed on a pamphlet. This is my 1st attempt at a composition which fits into both specifications, for my camera to move around, im sure by the time im done this will probably have changed.

Vectorized images, even thought the end aesthetic will be as if it is hand drawn i felt that vectorized images would give the illustrations more body and stability in after effects, it also eliminates the possibility of pixelation if i want to enlarge or zoom into the images.
